Socialism Explained

An economics professor at Texas Tech said he had never failed a single student before but had, once, failed an entire class. That class had insisted that socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.

The professor then said ok, we will have an experiment in this class on socialism. All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.

After the first test the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy. But, as the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too; so they studied little. The second test average was a D. No one was happy. When the 3rd test rolled around the average was an F. The scores never increased as bickering, blame, name calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.

All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great; but when government takes all the reward away; no one will try or want to succeed.

Could it be put any simpler than that....?

I just got this email and thought it so prevalent to what is happening today. We may not go to socialism tomorrow but our nation is heading there. Would anyone really want this to happen?

Raises

Todays featured article can be found in the Sacramento Bee "Capitol staffers receive raises" I get the feeling it's a raise for a raises sake (is that even a word?).
They haven't received raises for a while and darn it they deserve them!!! Which let's say is 100% true they really truly deserve a raise (and having to work as a staffer has to be painful)I would say the timing is a little off. At a time when the people of California are being taxed more than any other state, a time when we are on the brink of bankruptcy, a time that our legislators can't agree on how to fix the problem, this is NOT the time to be giving anyone in government a raise. I'm just saying....

Miss California

During the Miss USA Contest Miss California decided to tell the truth about how she feels about gay marriage and is getting slammed by...no surprise the media. First what did mr/ms. Perez Hilton think to accomplish by asking such a controversial question? Obviously he/she was looking for validation through the pageant contestant. The man who runs the Miss California competition was "personally saddened and hurt" maybe he should have that be a qualifying question before he will let anyone compete. Then his feelings won't be hurt when people don't agree with him. I admire Miss Carrie Prejean for her honesty. I hope she will be able to withstand the firestorm that is coming her way.

Report on Tax Day

I have never been at a rally before other than you know high school stuff...It was so fun. I wandered around through the people just watching and listening. I came home and was just so excited...then I watch the local news and read the local newspaper and was just deflated. First it was amazing on how they reported the 'facts' I'm assuming news stories gather information and hope they are reporting the truth but it was as if they took 1/4 truths and mixed them with 3/4 opinion and in a few cases just down right inaccuracies. If I hadn't been there I would never have given it a second thought. The trouble with this kind of reporting is the hundreds of people who tune in thinking they are getting truth. Most of these people watching don't think to verify what they are hearing on the news. How does the average Joe discern fact from fiction? This is scary. The tea parties were what they were...but how often with other news stories does this happen? How do we know? Where do we find out what is real what is truth?

Link for Tea Party

www.site.sacteaparty.com/

It's been a while

So I have taken a break for a while! Not on purpose but out of frustration. The self inflicted beating I take by watching the news just about wears me out. It's like a car wreck I JUST CAN'T HELP IT. I'm ready to step back into the arena and want to invite you to join me on the steps of the Capital April 15th for the Sick of Taxes tea party. It's scheduled from 12am to 2pm more info on this link. I think it will be fun just to say you were there and the more the merrier.
I'll take my camera and report back! Lisa
